The Brief

A full house rewire replaces the wiring, sockets, switches and lighting circuits throughout a home. Most of the rewires we carry out in Bristol are for homeowners who want to make a property safe and bring its electrics up to date, often soon after buying it. The aim is always the same: a safe, modern installation with sensible socket and switch positions, completed quickly and left tidy.

What We Did

Our standard rewire process covers:

• Planning the layout: agreeing socket, switch and lighting positions around how the household actually uses each room, before any work starts.
• First fix: chasing walls and lifting floors where needed, then running new cables to every socket, switch and light position, as shown in the first photo.
• Second fix: fitting new sockets, switches and light fittings and connecting every circuit.
• New consumer unit: installing a modern consumer unit to protect the new circuits.
• Testing and certification: testing every circuit and handing over the installation with its certificate.
• Making good: where included, repairing the plaster after chasing so each room is ready to decorate.

The Result

A fully rewired home with a new consumer unit, tested and certified, with neat cable routes and walls put back together. Because rewiring is our specialism and every job is planned before we arrive, most full house rewires are completed in around 5 days. Every rewire is backed by our 5-year full warranty cover.

Typical price: most full rewires we carry out cost between £4,950 and £8,950 + VAT, depending on the size of the property, the number of sockets and the lighting design. Including the making good can take the total beyond £10,000. Every job is quoted at a fixed price first.
