Our home renovation service wasn’t something we originally set out to create. It developed naturally over years of rewiring and improving homes across Bristol.
As electrical contractors, we were often one of the first major trades involved in a renovation. Once the rewire started, homeowners then had to coordinate plasterers, plumbers, heating engineers, kitchen fitters, decorators, window and door installers and other trades around us.
We quickly discovered just how difficult this could be.
Trades wouldn’t always arrive when expected, one job would hold up another, and homeowners were left trying to manage a renovation project while also dealing with work, family and everyday life.
Eventually, we realised there was a much better way of doing things.
From Rewiring Homes to Coordinating the Whole Project
Initially, we simply started helping.
We coordinated plasterers around our rewires, introduced trusted tradespeople and helped customers work out the correct order for different parts of their renovation.
Over time, we began taking responsibility for more and more of the work ourselves.
What started as coordinating the trades associated with our electrical work gradually developed into a close-knit team capable of taking care of the majority of work within the home.
Today, that team is made up of a mixture of family, close friends and trusted tradespeople we’ve worked alongside for years.
These aren’t simply subcontractors selected for a particular project. They’re people we know, trust and have built long-standing working relationships with.
The Creation of Bradford Challen Group
The next natural step was to bring everything together properly.
We created Bradford Challen Group Ltd as our dedicated home renovation and upgrade company, specialising predominantly in smaller and medium-sized residential refurbishment projects. Rather than trying to be a large building contractor taking on everything, our focus is specifically on improving and transforming existing homes.

Instead of the homeowner trying to coordinate several different companies, we take responsibility for organising the project and the order in which the work happens. It makes the entire process simpler and helps prevent the delays and problems we’ve seen countless times over the years.
It Often Starts With a Rewire
Many of our renovation projects still begin exactly where this journey started — with HB Electrical. A homeowner contacts us because they’ve purchased an older property or they’re planning a major upgrade and need the house rewired.
Rewiring a home requires a considerable amount of trust. We’re working throughout your property, lifting floors, chasing walls and helping you make decisions about an electrical installation you’ll potentially live with for decades. Once we’ve earned that trust, customers often ask us: “Can you take care of the rest?” Increasingly, the answer is yes. We may initially be appointed to rewire the property, but we regularly go on to become the main contractor for the wider improvements and renovation work within the home.
